Eve Presents to CHICATA: Supercharge Your Professional Language Skills

Eve was invited by CHICATA, the Chicago Area Translators and Interpreters Association, to present as an expert on how professional linguists can maintain their second language skills. This was for CHICATA’s annual conference, held online this year, on Saturday,  November 21, 2020.

Eve talked about how professional-level language expertise is literally what translators and interpreters sell and, therefore, crucial to maintain at high levels. They cannot neglect to tend to the linguistic expertise that is being offered as a service. Language professionals’ skills must be top notch and continually improving.

The presentation provided tips, ideas and strategies for maintaining and strengthening one’s working languages, and bonus tips for doing so during the pandemic.

Eve offered 21^st-century approaches to language maintenance as well as how to use traditional approaches and game play to have fun with the process. Attendees took away new ideas, links and references for linguistic success. In addition, a copy of Eve’s book was given away in a random drawing of all attendees and mailed to the winner.
