Book recommendations: cross-cultural communication for global bussiness

After our recent Twitter chat on Intercultural Communications in International Business that was part of the International Business Topics Chats (follow hashtag #ibtopics on Twitter!), I was inspired to list some books that offer a variety of insightful perspectives on intercultural communications for business professionals who are active in global markets.

The Culture Code by Clotaire Rapaille – thoughts on why consumers around the world make the purchases they do.

Understanding Cultural Differences: Germans, French and Americans
by Hall and Hall – a classic!

Au Contraire! Figuring Out the French by Asselin and Mastron – addreses cross-cultural management issues.

Redefining Global Strategy:Crossing Borders in a World Where Differences Still Matter by Pankaj Ghemawat – the title says it all!

Beyond Borders: Web Globalization Strategies by John Yunker – though this book was published in 2003 and some of the technology has changed, Yunker’s fundamental ideas remain valid and useful.

And, if you are on Twitter, don’t forget to follow hashtag #ibtopics to find out when our next International Business Topics chat will be and what specific topic we will be addressing. We’d love to have you!
